U-visa, T-visa, and Asylum
Three paths to relief
U-Visa
U nonimmigrant status
The U-Visa is available to people who were victims of serious crimes in the United States, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and felony assault, who suffered substantial physical or mental abuse and have been, are, or are likely to be helpful to law enforcement.
T-VISA
T nonimmigrant status
The T-Visa is for survivors of a severe form of human trafficking, sex or labor trafficking. Applicants generally must show they are present in the U.S. because of trafficking, have complied with reasonable requests from law enforcement, and would face severe harm if removed.
Asylum
Asylum &
Persecution
Asylum is for people in the United States who have suffered persecution, or have a well-founded fear of persecution, on account of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
